last year i sat down with a wonderful woman named Carolyn Battle-Cochran to share my personal “brownbaby” experience for part 2 of her documentary series: “Biracial Not Black, Dammit” (don’t be afraid of the title, it’s a wonderful project centered around love and self-acceptance). while working on this film series and after a successful screening in LA, Carolyn discovered that in order for the multicultural community to be heard we needed a larger platform. soo, over the weekend Carolyn completed an audition tape for Oprah’s OWN TV and is pitching a show idea called “Inside the Multicultural Community”. after lots of hard work, long hours and a few rejections (OWN sure is strict about logos, name mentions and such) the audition is up on Oprah.com and needs our VOTES!!
once you watch the clip, you’ll see that Carolyn (who is much happier behind the camera) is pitching some of us who have been involved in the mixed-race community as contributors (brownbaby.org included!). she is incredibly passionate about creating identity and voices for those she feels are underrepresented. please join brownbaby in helping her do that by watching, commenting and VOTING!!!
you can vote as many times as you like and the best way to guarantee that every vote is counted is to click on the link each time. (in other words, press the browser back button and refresh OR re-click the original link to ensure each vote counts. the “Back to Previous” button on the “Thanks for Voting” page may or may not be including each vote. tricky, tricky Oprah.). the idea is to get as many votes and make as much noise as we possibly can between now and July 3rd. even if Carolyn’s audition isn’t among the top 5 finalists, someone will notice there is a large community out there that demands to be heard!
VOTE! then SHARE! then VOTE again! and then 100 more times after that!!
